Tesla's Lost

Experiment

March 25, 2017

10AM-6PM

Google Kirkland Campus

"Tesla's Lost Experiment" is a one-day puzzle hunt which originally ran in February 2016 at Tesla STEM HS in Redmond, WA.   It was constructed by parents and students, including veteran designers of the Microsoft Puzzle Hunt and MIT Mystery Hunt.  It was designed for high school students, but should be enjoyable by people of all ages who like puzzles.  The hunt was designed for teams of 4-5 people working (mostly) in a classroom for approximately 6 hrs (time may vary with skill level.)

We are replaying this event for Google employees and the general puzzle community at Google Kirkland. The replay of the event will start at 10AM March 25, at Google Kirkland Campus, Building A.  We will try to replay as much of the flavor of the original event as possible but the production will be scaled back a bit since many of the students are unavailable.  The event is being run with a "just for fun" slant, but we may have a few minor prizes to share.

Participants must register ahead of time to reserve space.  Because of site security requirements, it is required that each team have at least one Google employee to serve as a security escort.   However we may also be able to accommodate a limited number of non-Google teams in the common area.

FAQ

Is this a "Google Puzzle Hunt"?

Not really.  This is a mini-puzzle hunt being rerun at Google Kirkland.  (But, who knows what the future holds?)

Is this event for high school students or adults?

The event was originally designed for high school students, but this rerun is being targeted primarily at adults.

How many people can be accommodated on a team?

The event was designed for teams of 4-5.  You can have more or fewer as desired, within reason.

Is there a fee to participate?

There is no fee.  We may ask for a small donation at the event to cover expenses.

How do I register a team?

Google employees can register at the google internal web site go/teslahunt.  Alternately, you can send mail to teslapuzzlehunt@gmail.com

What if I don't know any Google employees to join a team with?

Logistics and security requirements make it much easier for us to accommodate teams with at least one Google employee.  However we will make an attempt to accommodate other teams.  Please email teslapuzzlehunt@gmail.com if you are interested and having trouble finding a Google team.

How many teams will you be able to accommodate?

Since this is the first event of this particular kind, we are playing it by ear a bit.  We are hopeful that we will be able accommodate everybody who wants to participate, but depending on demand it is possible that we will not be able to do so. Registering early will ensure that we have the best chance of adapting to demand.  Also if we cannot do so, a future replay is always possible.

More logistical details will be shared closer to the event.
